O formato de leitura encenada pode oferecer um espaço à literatura diferente do que é convencionalmente levado à cena, diferente também do que o leitor encontra quando lê para si próprio.
Interessa-nos este formato entre o teatro e a tertúlia, entre o ensaio e a acção, em que o público é convidado a aceitar a convenção de coisa inacabada, informal, embora que coberta de mundo.

Synopsis
Staged readings can offer a space for literature that is different from what is traditionally brought to the stage, and which is also different from that which the reader finds when they read to themselves. Our interest lies in this format between theatre and literary gathering, between rehearsal and action, in which the audience is invited to accept the pattern of an informal, unfinished practice, albeit wrapped by the world.

Inspirada por este mapeamento que Maria Teresa Horta faz nos seus poemas, dedicando palavras a cada parte do corpo, pretendo criar uma outra viagem que construa um outro corpo juntando poemas de outras autoras. Será que este corpo teria lugar?

Synopsis
Inspired by the mapping of words to describe each part of the body in Maria Teresa Horta’s poems, I aim to take another path in creating another body by gathering poems by other authors. Would this body be possible?

Sinopse
Consideramos a escrita de Maria Velho da Costa de uma intensa força, que acarinha o uso da língua portuguesa de forma despudorada e entusiasmaste.
Lê-la é sentir renascer palavras. Somos levadas, na pujança da sua mestria, para os interstícios mais gráficos da cada figura por si trazida à luz. Este título-provocação “Meninas Exemplares”, por si mesma utilizada na obra “Casas Pardas”, parece-nos a forma mais acertada de apresentar três actrizes que se darão às palavras-balas-pérolas da autora. Ou não fosse afinal a sua obra coisa de meninas e mulheres feitas, umas mais exemplares que outras, como se quer.

Synopsis
We believe that the writings by Maria Velho da Costa are extremely powerful, cherishing the Portuguese language unashamedly and enthusiastically. Reading her work is like seeing the rebirth of words. In the spirit of her mastery, we are whisked away to the most graphic crevices of each figure brought to light by the author. This title-provocation, “Exemplary Girls”, which she used in the novel Brown Houses (Casas Pardas), seems to be the most appropriate way to present three actresses who will yield to the author’s words-bullets-pearls. After all, her work has to do with girls and women, some more exemplary than others, whichever way you want them to be.

“Adicionar um lugar ausente” é um texto inédito e inacabado criado a partir do registo documental da viagem feita pela autora e narradora quando, no dia em que completaria 33 anos de idade, decide conhecer a terra onde nasceu.

É assim esta leitura encenada, voamos por cima de Uma boca cheia de pássaros, de Caryl Churchill, ao sabor do ”isto porque sim, aquilo porque não”. Lemos por ti, excertos sem outro nexo que o de nos falarem de hoje. Isto enquanto preparamos um outro texto desta autora – Top Girls, a estrear em 2021.

Synopsis
In these difficult times, sometimes we cannot read, our eyes are distracted, and our head wanders off elsewhere. This is how we describe these staged readings: we fly over Mouthful of Birds (Uma boca cheia de pássaros), by Caryl Churchill, swaying “at the whim of the wind”. We read these excerpts for you, excerpts with no other purpose than to tell us about the present day, all this while we prepare another text by this author – Top Girls, which will premiere in 2021.
