Sinopse
A haver um cânone literário ocidental, o centro é Shakespeare, ele ensina-nos a falar com nós mesmos, quem o afirma é Harold Bloom e pergunta-se ainda: Haverá ficção mais convincente e simultaneamente literária?
Convincente? Ora aqui reside o nosso problema com o Rei Lear, perdoe Sr. Bloom. Como acreditar que Cordélia, a filha mais nova de Lear, ao recusar-se a medir em palavras o amor que sente pelo pai, seja expulsa para sempre do reino e sem dote. Se Lear não é tonto, e é tudo menos isso, porque a condena ao exílio?
O espectáculo propõe uma leitura crítica de O Rei Lear, com muitas das dúvidas que nos assaltam quando lemos um clássico, na expectativa de que cada pessoa se ponha a falar consigo própria, não em voz alta e enlouquecida como o protagonista, mas como se de uma conversa se tratasse.

Synopsis
If there is such a thing as a Western literary canon, its centre is Shakespeare; he teaches us to speak to ourselves, as Harold Bloom asserts, and he goes on to ask: Is there any fiction that is more convincing and, at the same time, more literary?
Convincing? Well, herein lies our problem with King Lear, if you’ll pardon me, Mr Bloom. How can we believe that Cordelia, Lear’s youngest daughter, by refusing to put into words the love she feels for her father, should be banished forever from the kingdom and without a dowry? If Lear is not a fool — and he is anything but that — why does he condemn her to exile?
The production offers a critical reading of King Lear, exploring many of the doubts that assail us when reading a classic, in the hope that each person will be able to speak to themselves — not aloud and in a frenzy like the protagonist, but as if in a conversation.
